The QRA UK starts its 25th season of running events by organising the traditional season opener with their two day BXUK Margate International Beachcross event at the Kent seaside resort of Margate.
It is ten years since the first staging of the beachcross events on the golden sands above the tideline on 5th 6th March in a motocross format of three fifteen to twenty minute races.
As usual the event is a stand alone one off event but also doubles up as a round of the MCF sanctioned BXUK MCF British Beachcross Championship, which in 2015 after six days of racing over three weekends was won by Irishman Richard McKeown with Brett TJ Moore second and Jamie Wilson third.
French sand ace, who finished sixth in this years Enduropale Du Touquet, Arnaud Degousee had been undefeated BXUK Champion for four years had to settle for fourth after being forced to drop a round due to bike theft back home in France.
As usual the events attract riders from across Europe with riders from France, Germany and Holland already entered. Degousee will be battling with number one plate holder McKeown once again.
In the highly competitive Quad classes reigning BXUK MCF British Quad Beachcross Champion the popular Carl Bunce will going all out to hang on to the number 1 plate after last year defeating 2013 champion Essex’s very own Jamie Clarke who finished 2nd with the multi times British Quad Champion from Stornaway, John Mitchell 3rd and Laurence Stopps in a close 4th.
2014 Champion Oli Sansom had the defence of his title halted due to injury and is determined to fight for the number one plate back this year.
QRA enjoy putting on all the events, BXUK at Margate has its challenges every year but it always works out well with great racing and a fun social time enjoying the fabulous golden sand beach and all that the town has to offer.

Being asked to organise one at Bournemouth is a big shot in the arm for BXUK series and our sport. It’s part of the annual Bournemouth Wheels Festival and last year attracted over 300,000 spectators.
