‘Beachcross’ is where a track/course is designed made on a beach incorporating jumps, hollows and undulations twisting up and down the beach.
The tracks are around 10 metres wide to allow for lots of overtaking and racing line options and would normally take around two minutes to complete a lap on either a Quad or Solo machine.
Because the track is constructed out of sand, the track changes every lap with the sand moving every time it is ridden over, making it very demanding but great fun to compete on and fabulous to watch as the competitors take on the challenges of racing each other and terrain.
The classes each competitor competes in, whether Quad or Solo is determined by timed practice/qualification. The times are taken and then split in to classes, Club, National or Pro (C, B or A). Once the competitors are sorted in to classes they will have the minimum of three class races, scoring points in each race towards the overall result over the two days, minimum of 6 races each competitor per class. Each class has around twenty competitors.
Races start, using a mechanical gate or raised Union Flag once all the competitors have lined up beside each other in qualification order, quickest in that group gets first pick of start number.
The Quad and Solo competitors race separately in their classes, not mixed in the same races. Races are between 12 to 15 minutes plus one lap depending which class.
